Glitter & Rhinestones: A Girl's Best Friend

I was going to start my tropical bird series this week, but I purchased some pigments (crazy, bright pigments) that I want to use on some of the looks. So, I got bored and decided to do this. I'm not crazy about it because the glitter decided to chunk up in some areas, and you really can't see the rest in the pictures. I'm still getting used to liquid liner because I don't use it that much. I prefer my gel liner. Anyway, here is a look I came up with. I hope you like it.

See how the glitter looks chunky? And you can't see the rest? Ugh. Fail.

The last two pictures are pretty similar, but you can see the crease and transition colors better in the middle picture.

Update and Belated Merry Christmas!

So, I'm typing with one hand right now. I am 5 days post surgery and get to take my bandage off tomorrow. I am so happy about that. Having carpal tunnel surgery on your dominant hand is really a pain in the arse. Needless to say, I haven't done my makeup in a week. I'm not ambidextrous, so makeup just wasn't happening. I can use my hand more now, so I'm ready to get back to blogging and doing my makeup. I already have a look planned. I will be doing a look based on my mother-in-law's macaw Lulu. She is so gorgeous, but so big!
This is Lulu
She also has another bird that is gorgeous, and she is a sun conure. I am always inspired by Tequila when I go over there because of her gorgeous colors.
This is Tequila. She is a diva!
Anyway, a look inspired by Lulu will be coming up within the week. I may try a look based on Tequila, as well. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it). If not, I hope you had a happy holiday. Did everyone get what they wanted? My daughter was definitely spoiled this year!

Blue Had Me At Hello

Yes, original name, I know. I really wasn't sure what I wanted to do tonight, and I remembered that I haven't really used this palette much since I bought it. So, I pulled it out and went for it. I used the right side of the palette, and used each color as the palette says. This will be my last blog post for a bit because I'm having carpal tunnel surgery tomorrow on my right hand. Yes, I'm right-handed. It really sucks. So, I wanted to play in my makeup one last time since it will be a bit before I can do it again. Hope you like it.

Bling, Bling

Just a quick post showing a look I did tonight. I had to write a paper for school before my break started (tomorrow). When I finished it I decided to go play with my makeup. I only did one eye and did not do my face, so that's why you are only getting to see one eye. I thought of this earlier while I was writing my paper. Constructive Criticism is welcome. Oh, and I know my eyeliner is a little "bumpy." I was shaking.

This last picture is blurred on purpose so you can see the gorgeousness that is MAC's 3D Silver glitter.

Products Used:
MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Wet'n'Wild Blue Had Me at Hello palette (turquoise on right side for crease and water line)
MAC Carbon (base on lid and lower lashline)
MAC 3D Silver glitter
Revlon Vintage Lace (highlight)
L'Oreal Lineur Intense liquid eyeliner
Maybelline One by One mascara

Hope you like it! Let me know what you think!

Sleek Makeup Palette Review (Storm and Sunset)

I've had these palettes for a while. I've used them quite a few times. I've even used the Storm palette on some bridesmaids I did makeup on. The storm palette consists of neutrals, and the sunset palette has more colors. On to the review. All pictures in this post can be enlarged by clicking on them.

Each palette looks like this on the outside.

This is the back of the palette. I'm starting with the Storm palette as you can see. Here is the inside/colors of the palette:

This palette is definitely more neutral than the Sunset palette is. I have used this palette the most. However, I haven't used this one a lot on myself. Some of the shadows are inconsistent/chalky. I do not like the black in this palette at all. You will be able to see from the swatches that the black is not opaque and is kind of chalky. NOTE: One swatch is missing because I could not get it to show up on my arm.

This is the top row. There are two swatches for each color. The one on the left is without a primer, and the one on the right is over MAC painterly paint pot. As you can see, the colors are mostly shimmer. The black is matte and the light brown is matte. The light brown color shows up better over a primer versus on its own.
This is the bottom row. You can see from the picture that the black hardly has any color at all. This surprises me considering how opaque the black is in the Sunset palette. The other colors are pretty consistent and show up the same on their own or with primer.

My Thoughts (Storm Palette):
I do like this palette although the black is weak. This is a great palette neutrals with some darker colors, i.e. blue and green, to give it a little kick. The only disappointment I have in this palette is the black. Would I buy this again? Yes. I do not believe that the weakness of the black should be the deciding factor. The eyeshadows themselves are very silky and some except for the mattes. The mattes aren't as silky.

Next up is the Sunset palette as shown.

I am definitely more drawn to this palette because of the gorgeous colors in it. You would be amazed to see what these colors do for blue eyes. Here are the swatches:

This is the top row of colors. Every color in this palette is opaque, even the lighter colors. You can see how much more opaque the black is in this palette than the Storm palette.
This is the bottom row. Once again, these are swatched with no primer on the left and MAC painterly paint pot on the right. The only matte in this palette is the black.

My Thoughts (Sunset Palette):
This is my favorite palette of the two. Which I'm sure I've already said. This palette is perfect for blue and green eyes, but it would be gorgeous on everyone. The shadows are more consistent in this palette. Would I buy this again? Most definitely. I believe that this is one palette (considering I only have these two) that is worth investing money in. If you have a chance to get this one, do it! I know you won't regret it.

Here is a look I did using the Sunset palette: I do not have any close-ups of the eyes, though.

I hope you enjoyed this review. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Hi all! I'm back!

I used to have a blog and things got out of control, so I had to step away from it. Things are better now, so I am back in action. I will be posting my makeup looks and doing reviews. I'm going to make it my goal to try and post at least twice a week, but hopefully I can post more than that. My first makeup related post will be posted tomorrow (Friday, December 16). That will be a review of the Sleek Makeup palettes that I have. I was supposed to do a review on them when I had my last blog, but that didn't happen. Sonja had asked me to do a review of my Sleek palettes, so I'm going to make sure that's the first (real) post that I do. Anyway, I'm looking forward to blogging again. I have missed it!
